Lava Blaze Curve 5G does not need any one feature. It is as solid as it looks beautiful. The company has tried to score full marks on the design of the phone. Its back part uses a tough glass panel with matte finish, which also has the strength of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The company claims that this phone can protect itself from breaking if it falls.
There is Lava 5G branding at the bottom of the back side. There are three circular camera bumps on the top, in which the rear cameras are fitted. LED flash light is provided separately. The IRON Glass color variant gives a premium feel and gives a glimpse of Vivo X50 Pro, which was launched about two and a half years ago in the range of Rs 50 thousand. Even after using it for 4 to 5 days without a TPU case, no fingerprints appeared on the back of Lava Blaze Curve 5G.
The power button and volume rocker are given on the right side of the phone. The left side is empty. Type-C port, SIM tray, microphone are present at the bottom. There are two stereo speakers at the top and bottom, which play loud and crisp sound and come with Dolby Atmos support. Blaze Curve 5G does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, a USB Type-C connector has been provided to make up for this deficiency. A 33-watt charger, C-type data cable, SIM ejector tool and TPU cover are also available in the box.
Lava Blaze Curve 5G has a 6.67-inch Full HD Plus punch hole display. This is a curved AMOLED display, which makes the display chin almost negligible and the phone has a raised screen from the front. The display with 1080×2400 pixel resolution has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which presents the screen in a smooth manner.
The peak brightness of 800 nits seemed average to me. Colours were sharp in indoor use. There was no problem visually. There was no problem in reading e-paper and watching YouTube videos. The brightness of the display seemed to fade a bit in bright sunlight. However, it supports Widevine L1 certification, which enhances the experience of watching content on Netflix etc.
Lava Blaze Curve 5G has MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050 processor. This processor has already appeared in many smartphones of Realme, Oppo and Lava and has shown its performance. Blaze Curve 5G has 8 GB RAM, which can be expanded up to another 8 GB. The review unit we got has 128 GB internal storage. The performance of the phone has impressed me in initial use. Social media browsing, content streaming and short periods of gaming have been handled well. However, it would be too early to say more about this. I will talk in detail about the performance in the full review.
Lava Blaze Curve 5G has a triple rear camera setup. The main camera is 64MP, which is a Sony sensor. Apart from this, there is an 8-megapixel wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera in the phone. The main rear camera supports 20X optical zoom. A 32MP selfie camera is provided in the front. The initial photos taken from Blaze Curve 5G seemed average to us. Some selfies were decent. Various modes like beauty, portrait, macro are given in the camera app. To know the camera performance in each mode, you will have to wait for the review. This phone can record video up to 4K 30fps, its capability is yet to be tested.
Lava Blaze Curve 5G has a 5000mAh battery. To charge it, a 33W charger comes in the box.
Lava claims that the battery gets fully charged in 80 minutes and 50% charged in 30 minutes. The battery lasted for a day in average use, but its actual performance and charging time will be known after the review.
Some of the things that impressed me in the first impression are the in-display fingerprint sensor. It unlocks the device quickly. Second, this phone runs on Android 13. There is no layer of any other UI in it, which gives a pure Android experience and there is no hassle of unnecessary apps and bloatware.
In the coming days, we will put the Lava Blaze Curve 5G through all the necessary tests of Gadgets 360. Stay tuned to read the full review.
