Industrial corridors are being built in 29 districts along the five expressways of UP. UPDA has been given the responsibility for this. About 1700 hectares of land has been acquired. It is clear from its speed that the ‘expressway’ of industrial development for the state will soon take a concrete shape.

Industrial corridors are being built along the Ganga Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. These corridors are to be developed in 29 districts along these five expressways. Maximum 11 industrial cities will be built along the Ganga Expressway corridor.

On the second number, 6 industrial cities will be developed along the Bundelkhand Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway. On the third number is the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with four cities. Two industrial cities will be developed in Gorakhpur. 84 villages of 23 districts have already been notified. Pharma parks, textile parks, warehouses, logistics, electronic equipment, hosiery, food processing, milk processing, medicine, IT parks, heavy industries and machinery will be set up in these industrial cities.

Industrial development is fastest on Ganga Expressway

Corridors will be built near Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj adjacent to the Ganga Expressway. 1371.90 hectares of land of these cities is to be acquired. In this, 1290 hectares will be taken from the private sector and 81.90 hectares of government land. The total budget is Rs 2345 crore. So far, UPDA has also acquired 672 hectares of land.

Industrial development will take place in six cities of Bundelkhand

Six industrial cities will be built on the Bundelkhand Expressway. These industrial cities will be developed in Chitrakoot, Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jalaun and Auraiya. Corridors will be built on 1911 hectares of land in these six districts. In this, 1843.75 hectares of land is being acquired from the private sector and 67.25 hectares from the government sector. Rs 1926 crore is being spent on the purchase of land. So far 534 hectares of land has been purchased.

Six cities also benefit from Purvanchal Expressway

Six industrial cities are being built on the Purvanchal Expressway. These are to be developed in Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ghazipur and Ambedkarnagar. 1470 hectares of land is being acquired from these six districts. The total budget is more than 2307 crores. So far 358 hectares of land has been acquired.

Two other expressways are also on the path of development

Five industrial cities will be built on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway which will be settled in Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Kannauj and Kanpur Nagar. Two industrial cities will be developed in Ambedkarnagar and Gorakhpur on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. 609 hectares of land will be purchased for Agra-Lucknow for Rs 239 crore. At the same time, the budget for 207 hectares of land for the two cities of Gorakhpur Link is Rs 480 crore. At both places, 36 hectares and 33 hectares of land have been acquired respectively.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, work is being done at a fast pace to accelerate the pace of industrial development along the expressway. In this sequence, the work of land acquisition for building industrial corridors along the expressway is being done on top priority. These corridors will play an important role in making the state’s economy one trillion dollar.
