Koderma: A pregnant woman travelling with her husband in a train suddenly experienced labour pains and then a baby’s cry resonated in the train. A woman travelling with her husband and mother-in-law in the general coach of Kolkata Jammu Tawi Express from Pitambarpur in Uttar Pradesh to Koderma suddenly experienced labour pains after 6 am on Sunday. After this, with the help of women passengers present in the coach, the woman was safely delivered inside the train. The passengers informed the railway helpline number about the woman’s delivery in the train. After which the railway control informed Koderma station about it.

Newborn baby examined at Koderma station
When the Kolkata Jammu Tawi Express reached Koderma station at around 8 am, the woman was attended to by a railway doctor and a woman constable of the Railway Protection Force Koderma and she got down safely from the coach. After this, the railway doctor examined the newborn baby. During the examination, the doctor said that the condition of the baby was normal and referred him to Sadar Hospital Koderma for better medical facilities.

The family was going from Bareilly to Khorimahua
Passenger Arif Khan, a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, said that he had boarded the Kolkata Jammu Tawi Express at around 12 noon on Saturday to travel from Pitambarpur to Koderma. He said that after getting down at Koderma station, he had to go to his in-laws’ house in Khorimahua in Giridih district. After the train passed Gaya Junction after 6 am on Sunday, his wife Safina Khatoon started having labor pains. After this, she gave birth to a child in the train. After this, the child’s father took a new blade from the passengers and cut the umbilical cord of the child. The woman Safina Khatoon said that she was 6 months pregnant.
