In the meeting of Congress councillors held in the District Congress office under the chairmanship of city District Congress Committee President Ravindra Tyagi, a resolution was passed unanimously demanding the resignation of Mayor Rajiv Agarwal from the post of Mayor after he joined the BJP party in the Lok Sabha elections.

City District Congress Committee President Ravindra Tyagi said that the elections of Municipal Corporation Kota South were held in November 2020, then Rajiv Agarwal was elected mayor by the Congress councilors, but in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Mayor Rajiv Agarwal left the Congress party and joined the BJP, so in principle he should resign from his post, which he has not done till date, while it has been almost three months since he joined the BJP.
