If regional cinema is presented on screen with the natural beauty of the respective region, then it connects directly with the audience. Making the environment a part of cinema has been very important from the beginning. This is why people loved Charlie Chaplin’s films. A lot of attention is also paid to this in Disney’s animation films. In Indian cinema, the work of making the environment the soul of the story has been done a lot in commercial cinema as well as in art cinema. Whether it is Ramgarh of Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Sholay’ or Dandakaranya of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’, Vatavaram tried its best to make the stories charismatic. The Hindi film ‘Kookie’ made in Assam may draw attention to a problem of the North East due to its name, but here Kookie is the name of a girl. The director and technical team of the film have done a very good job of making the environment a part of the story.
