A hearing is to be held in the Supreme Court on Monday in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. Before this hearing, government doctors of Bengal held rallies across the state. In protest against the RG tax incident, the doctors of the state had observed a strike for 41 days and health services have become normal only recently. Doctors are demanding tightening of security arrangements for doctors at their workplaces.

Doctors’ eyes on Supreme Court hearing

It is noteworthy that the junior doctors of West Bengal announced on Saturday that after the hearing of the Supreme Court, they can start the stop work strike again. Doctors say that they are keeping an eye on the affidavit filed by the state government in the Supreme Court and only then will decide on their next step.

Supreme Court is hearing on suo motu cognizance

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court will today hear the case of rape and murder of a junior resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The Supreme Court is hearing this matter on its own. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the case. Apart from the Chief Justice, this bench also includes Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra are also included.
