What is the whole matter?
Let us tell you that the anti-encroachment campaign at Vishalgad Fort in Kolhapur district turned violent last Sunday when the crowd present there pelted stones at the policemen and damaged the properties. The police have arrested 21 people in this case. At the same time, the situation became more tense when some right-wing activists led by former MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati of the Maratha royal family from Pune were stopped outside the fort by the police in view of the prohibitory order.

Vishalgad Fort is located 76 km north-west of Kolhapur in Maharashtra. This is the same fort where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj reached after escaping from the trap of Bijapur’s Adilshahi army. Vishalgad Fort also has the dargah of Hazrat Syed Malik Rehan Mir Saheb, where the Muslim population is high.
