Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Shivraj Singh Chauhan welcoming Dinesh William Marandi on joining BJP.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Dinesh William Marandi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. This time JMM had not given him ticket for the assembly elections, due to which he was angry. Marandi took membership of BJP during the election rally of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Littipara. Welcoming Marandi to BJP, Chauhan said that both of them will work together for the development of Jharkhand and the welfare of its people.
Hours after joining the BJP, JMM expelled Marandi from the party for six years. The ruling party, in its letter to Marandi, said he was served a show cause notice on Thursday but he failed to respond within the deadline. “You are removed from all party posts and expelled from the primary membership of the party for the next six years,” JMM said in the letter.
Decided to leave JMM due to threats from party leadership
Marandi said that he decided to leave JMM due to not getting the ticket and threats from the party leadership. He said, ‘My father Simon Marandi was one of the founders of JMM and I worked hard for years to strengthen the party, but now for the development of Jharkhand I have been forced to leave the party.’
In the 2019 elections, Marandi had won the Littipara seat in Pakur district by defeating BJP’s Daniel Kisku by 13,903 votes.
Chauhan attacked Hemant Soren government
While addressing the election rally, Shivraj Singh Chauhan attacked the Hemant Soren government. He accused Jharkhand of becoming a ‘centre of corruption, bad governance and scams’. Chouhan claimed that the people of Jharkhand are ready to overthrow the corrupt JMM-Congress led government.
