Ministers and secretaries of the Jharkhand government will be able to buy mobile phones worth up to Rs 60,000 and recharge them for Rs 3,000 per month. The state cabinet approved a proposal in this regard on Wednesday. A total of 30 proposals were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, including contractual appointments of professors, assistant professors and associate professors in government medical colleges.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said that according to the proposal approved in the cabinet meeting, Special Secretary level officers will be able to buy mobile phones worth up to Rs 45000 and recharge for Rs 2000 per month. Whereas, Additional Secretary, Additional Director and others will be able to buy mobile phones worth up to Rs 30000 and recharge for Rs 750.
According to Dadel, many posts are lying vacant and this is affecting the academic activities. To deal with the situation till new recruitment is done, rules have been made to fill the vacant posts on contract basis. He said that recruitment will be done for two years or till the age of 70 years of the candidate. A monthly remuneration of Rs 2.5 lakh for professors, Rs 2 lakh for associate professors and Rs 1.5 lakh for assistant professors has been proposed.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to set up 27 temporary police posts and 17 traffic posts to control the crowd during Shravani Mela in Deoghar. These posts will remain operational till August 19. Also, JMM’s Maheshpur MLA Stephen Marandi was nominated as the executive chairman of the state’s 20-point program implementation committee.
The Hemant government also decided to provide identity cards to people availing the Mukhyamantri Gramin Gari Yojana. A total of Rs 20 crore was allocated for the ID cards. About 1 crore people, including senior citizens, women and disabled persons, are entitled to free travel under the rural transport scheme. Apart from this, the cabinet also approved the Jharkhand Jail and Correctional Services Bill, 2024 in the state assembly.
