After the grand consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya, now at least five crore tourists are likely to visit the city every year. This number is much more than the number of devotees visiting the Golden Temple and Tirupati Temple. Brokerage firm Jefferies has estimated in the report that due to large-scale spending on infrastructure like airport, this city of UP will develop into the biggest tourist center of the country.
The report said more than $10 billion has been spent on Ayodhya for facilities such as a new airport, an expanded railway station, residential schemes and better road connectivity. This will open new hotels in the city and increase other economic activities. This will increase the number of tourists coming to Ayodhya significantly.
According to Jefferies, religious tourism is still the largest segment of tourism in India. Many popular religious centers attract 10–30 million tourists every year despite infrastructure constraints. Therefore, creation of a new religious tourism center (Ayodhya) with better connectivity and infrastructure can create huge economic impact.
Will contribute 443 billion dollars to GDP
According to the report, tourism contributed $ 194 billion to the GDP during pre-Covid i.e. 2018-19. It is expected to grow at the rate of 8 percent to reach $443 billion by 2032-33.

That’s why tourists will increase
According to the report, the first phase of the new airport in Ayodhya has started. It can handle 10 lakh passengers. The railway station has been expanded to handle 60,000 passengers daily. At present there are about 17 hotels in Ayodhya with 590 rooms. 73 new hotels are being built. Indian Hotels, Marriott and Wyndham have already signed agreements to build the hotel. Apart from this, ITC is also exploring possibilities for itself in Ayodhya. Oyo plans to add 1,000 rooms in Ayodhya. Plan to build a 1,200-acre greenfield township.
