Security forces foiled a major terrorist plot by recovering two IEDs (improvised explosive devices) hidden in Sangar village of Kasabladi area of ​​Mendhar. The weight of these two IEDs is said to be around 23 kg. Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and a thorough search operation is being carried out in the area.

Terrorist activities have increased significantly in Poonch district in the last one year. To foil the conspiracies of terrorists in the border areas, a joint team of Army’s Romeo Force and police was conducting a search operation in Sangar village of Mankot tehsil located on the India-Pakistan Line of Control late Tuesday evening. During this, two IEDs hidden at a place were recovered. One weighs about 15 kg and the other weighs about 8 kg.

The details of the recovered IEDs are awaited, the army spokesperson said. The big IED was placed in an empty plastic bucket containing paint while the small IED was set in a tiffin.

A terrorist associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba has been arrested in Baramulla district. A pistol, a magazine, eight pistol rounds, three hand grenades and other material have been recovered from him. He has been identified as Ashakir Ahmad, a resident of Dangerpora Sheeri.

A police spokesperson said that Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with Army’s 46 RR arrested a terrorist associate affiliated with banned terror outfit Lashkar/TRF at Eco Park crossing in Baramulla district. The officer said that the accused revealed that he was in touch with a Pakistan-based terror handler and was planning to carry out a terror attack in Baramulla town.

Terrorist hideout destroyed in Kupwara, huge cache of weapons recovered

Security forces destroyed a terrorist hideout during a search operation in Kupwara district. A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the spot.

A police spokesman said that on Monday, based on specific inputs, security forces launched a search operation in the Nangari forest area of ​​Dardpora Kralpora in the district. During this, eight magazines of AK 47, 445 cartridges, one pistol, three pistol magazines, 13 rounds and a hand grenade were recovered from the terrorist hideout.
