The election campaign for the third phase of assembly elections will end at 6 pm on Saturday. Before this, all the political parties have given their full strength for the victory of the candidates. Political parties are keeping their eyes on the independent candidates contesting the elections who can spoil their game. The parties are busy exerting pressure to get these candidates elected. Both BJP and Congress are contacting independent candidates contesting on many seats.
In the third phase, voting is to be held on 40 seats on October 1. Most of the seats are from Jammu division. There are 11 seats in Jammu district alone, three in Samba, 5 in Kathua and 4 in Udhampur. BJP was dominating these seats in the last elections. But this time BJP is facing tough challenge from Congress and some independent candidates on many seats.
There are also rebels from BJP and Congress at many places. BJP rebel Pawan Khajuria in Udhampur, Congress rebel Ajaib Motan, Sham Lal from Suchetgarh, Congress rebel Satish Sharma from Chhamb etc are in the fray. In such a situation, these parties are trying their best to bring independents and rebels to their support.
