In fact, during the elections, Congress Mayor Safira Sahu had joined the BJP along with 6 Congress councilors. After this, all the Congress councilors have opened a front against the mayor.
As soon as the elections were over, 9 MIC members of Congress resigned. These members alleged that due to the change of party by the Mayor, the officers have become dominant in the Municipal Corporation and no one is listening to them. Not only this, people are in a bad condition for drinking water in 48 wards of the corporation area, but the Mayor is completely busy in embezzling her funds and no work is being done in the interest of the public in the corporation.
MIC members made serious allegations against the mayor
There was a Congress government in Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation Lok Sabha Elections In 2015, the entry of Mayor Safira Sahu along with 6 senior Congress councillors into the BJP created a political uproar. On one hand, the Mayor accused the Congress leaders of neglect and interference, while on the other hand, the Congress councillors accused the Mayor of party-hopping and corruption worth crores of rupees. In the meantime, with the end of the Lok Sabha elections, all the 9 MIC members of the Congress have collectively resigned.

These councillors held a press conference and accused Mayor Safira Sahu that ever since the Mayor has joined the BJP, she has been missing, neither is she seen in the wards of the city nor is she listening to the problems of the councillors or MIC members. They said that the people of Jagdalpur had given a majority to the Mayor by electing the Congress councillors and the councillors had made Safira Sahu the Mayor, but Mayor Safira Sahu changed the party and betrayed the people.
Only the commissioner is listening to the mayor
Here in this summer, people are getting worried for every drop of water, but the mayor is not coming forward to solve the problems of the people, even the corporation commissioner is not listening to the mayor, all the Congress councilors said that they want the mayor to come to the house and prove his majority, while the district president of Congress Sushil Maurya said that there is a pile of problems in the municipal corporation area, the mayor is not listening to the MIC members.
In such a situation, all the MIC members including Udaynath James, Rajesh Rai, Vikram Singh Dangi, Sushma Kashyap, Kaneez Fatima, Deepa Nag, Anita Nag, Sushila Nag, and Vijay Kumar have also resigned. The Mayor is not paying any attention to the matters of city interest, and now the MIC members have also decided not to work with the Mayor.
The mayor retaliated against the allegations
Here in this matter Mayor Safira Sahu says that during Congress tenure, she was not allowed to do any development work while she was the Mayor, Congress did not even intend to work in the interest of the public, Congressmen were creating hurdles in the development work, due to constant neglect and understanding the difference between Congress’ words and actions, she joined BJP, the Mayor said that after joining BJP, he is constantly going among the public for development work, soon he will prove his majority in the House.
