Actually, Pakistan is not working in the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. During this time, Iran can go for International Arbitration against Pakistan and under this, a fine of 18 billion dollars can be imposed on Pakistan. At present, according to a report, the deadline for the gas pipeline project from Iran has been extended by 180 days to September 2024.
The team did not reach due to tension on the border – officer
Geo News quoted Pakistani officials as saying that Iran has said to send its legal and technical team to complete the gas pipeline project. Iran’s experts were to come to Pakistan on January 21 for talks related to the gas pipeline project, but due to increasing tension on the border between the two countries, this team has not been able to come to Pakistan yet.
Geo News wrote in its report – According to officials, now experts from Iran will come to Pakistan in the second week of February. During this time, the coordination committee of both the countries will make a strategy to make this project successful. It is said that from Iran’s side this team will include experts in international law and engineering experts.
Iran has given three notices to Pakistan- report
According to a report, this project is getting delayed since 2014. Iran has so far given three notices to Pakistan regarding this. Iran had given the last notice about 25 days ago. Earlier, Iran had given the second notice to Pakistan in the last month of the year 2022. During this time, Iran had warned Pakistan that if work on the project was not done then Pakistan should be ready to pay a fine of 18 billion dollars. Before this, Iran had sent the first notice to Pakistan in the year 2019.
What did Iran say on Pakistan’s reply?
Regarding the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, Pakistan says that America has imposed many sanctions on Iran, due to which the project is disrupted. On this, Iran says that it is not right to excuse itself by citing American sanctions. Iraq and Turkey have been using Iranian gas for a long time, because Iran and Turkey have obtained exemption from US sanctions.
