In the 40th match of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Titans by four runs. Batting first after losing the toss, Delhi scored 224 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant scored unbeaten 88 runs in 43 balls and Akshar Patel scored 66 runs. In reply, Gujarat team could score only 220 runs for eight wickets after the end of 20 overs. David Miller scored 55 runs in 23 balls and Sai Sudarshan scored 65 runs in 39 balls. This is Gujarat’s second consecutive defeat against Delhi. Earlier in Ahmedabad also, Delhi had won against Gujarat by six wickets.
With this victory, Delhi team has moved to seventh place in the points table with eight points. They have won four out of nine matches. At the same time, Gujarat team has slipped from seventh to eighth place. They have also lost five out of nine matches and also have eight points. However, Gujarat team is behind Delhi in net run rate. Delhi’s next match is against Mumbai Indians on 27th April in Delhi also. At the same time, Gujarat team will play its next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 28 April in Ahmedabad.
