Uttarakhand News: In Uttarakhand, the investigation into the purchase of land by outsiders is progressing rapidly. Recently, the name of a film star has also surfaced regarding the land purchased in Lamgada block, due to which the matter has become more sensitive. However, due to most of the cases being pending in the court, no open statement has been given by the administration on this at present. Administration officials say that action can be taken only after the court’s decision.

According to sources, the prescribed conditions were not followed in the land purchased by the film star. After getting permission from the government and the court, the administration can confiscate those lands in which rules have been violated. There has been a demand for land law in the state of Uttarakhand for a long time, and meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had instructed the district administration to prepare a list of lands purchased by outsiders. Since then, the administration is keeping an eye on those cases where the conditions have not been followed.

What does the land law of Uttarakhand say?
Under the land law in the state, outsiders are allowed to buy land up to 1.25 nali only if they are buying the land for construction of a building. A plan has been made to take action against those who have not followed the prescribed conditions. In this sequence, Almora district administration has started preparing data related to purchase of land by outsiders. Till now the administration has prepared a list of 23 people who have not followed the prescribed conditions. Of these, 11 cases are from Almora district, in which maximum number of violations have been registered.

So far, 11 cases have been identified in Almora district, while 5 cases have been reported in Ranikhet, 3 in Lamgada, 2 in Sylde and one case each in Salt and Dwarahat. In some of these cases, proceedings are pending in the court, while in some cases the administration has started action. This investigation process has become more important when the name of a film star has come to light in Lamagada, who had purchased land worth crores of rupees in the year 2021.

Land of a Mumbai industrialist confiscated
In another case, the land of a Mumbai industrialist has also been confiscated, who had purchased 108 bighas of land near Chitai without following the prescribed conditions. The administration issued a notice to this industrialist and later declared the deed of the land purchased by him invalid. The industrialist had also appealed to the Commissioner for relief, but he could not get any relief. Regarding this matter, the administration says that strict action will be taken in such cases and if anyone violates the conditions, legal action will be taken against them.

This investigation process is still going on, and the administration has initiated action in many cases. However, most of the cases are pending in the court, due to which not much information is being shared by the administration at present. Almora District Officer Alok Kumar Pandey said that action has been taken in some cases, while other cases are being investigated. He also said that those people are being identified who have not followed the prescribed conditions in the use of land.
