Indore Groundwater level down Reached 160 Meters in MP ANN

Indore News: Recently Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava had also said that the people of Indore are drinking the most expensive water in the world because this water has to travel about 70 kilometers to reach Indore and drinking water is being lifted from such a distance to reach the people here. It also requires machinery and power and costs crores of rupees every month.

The groundwater level in Indore is continuously falling. While the groundwater level was at 150 meters in 2022, a year later in 2023 it fell by 10 meters to around 160 meters. If the situation remains the same in Indore, then in the coming time Indore will also come in the category of Bengaluru where water crisis is the biggest problem today.

Continuous efforts are being made to increase the level of ground water and in this regard, Indore, the country’s number one clean city, is accelerating its efforts.

In the last few years, people in Indore were motivated to increase the groundwater level and were requested to install water harvesting systems at home, which people accepted and today many houses in Indore have water harvesting systems that save rainwater and send it underground. After the rainwater reaches underground, the groundwater level increases and people’s borewells provide water even in summers.

Although a lot of work is yet to be done on this, at least it has started and people of Indore are starting to adopt it. On the other hand, if we talk about commercial establishments, Indore Municipal Corporation has made water harvesting system mandatory there too. Without this, maps are not being passed nor permission is being given for construction of commercial buildings. It is necessary to install water harvesting system in the construction of buildings from 1500 square feet to the biggest buildings. In the coming time, more strictness will be imposed on this.

Whatever we take from the earth, we have to return it to it and there is only one way to return it, that is to perform our duties with complete commitment and honesty and we should do whatever we can to save nature and ensure that there is no lack in our efforts. Under this, a tree plantation campaign is also being run on a large scale in Indore.

About 51 lakh saplings will be planted in Indore from July 7 to July 14. Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya believes that after planting trees, not only will we get clean air and relief from heat, but the groundwater level will also increase. Planting trees is very important to increase the groundwater level and in this connection, this program is being organized in Indore.
