India’s Ambassador to Thailand Nagesh Singh has said that India and Thailand have common threats. Defence and security cooperation between the two countries has accelerated and most of their objectives are also shared. He said that the two countries have initiated more dialogues and exercises at the staff level and between the three armed forces. Nagesh Singh said that there are also issues of human trafficking and irregular fishing in the Bay of Bengal.

Defense cooperation has increased in the last 10 years

The Indian ambassador said, cooperation has increased between the two countries at the level of exchange of intelligence, meetings are being held regularly. 10 years ago there was no such cooperation between the two countries regarding security, but now it has come to light that both the countries have common threats and our strategic interests are also common. That is why we have started talks at the military level. Meetings are being held at the level of the three armies. The Indian ambassador said, ‘We also participate in some multinational military exercises like SITMEC in the Bay of Bengal along with Singapore, Thailand.’ The 13th edition of the joint military exercise Maitri between India and Thailand is being held at Fort Wachiraprakan in Tak province of Thailand from 1-15 July.
