New Delhi. The Indian cricket team is to tour Sri Lanka at the end of this month. Team India will go on this tour to play T20 and ODI series. It is reported that all-rounder Hardik Pandya has requested the BCCI not to select him in the ODI series due to personal reasons. The Indian team will play the T20 series against Sri Lanka from July 27, while the ODI series will start from August 2.
Team India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir is ready to start his new innings. He will take charge of the Indian team as coach from the Sri Lanka tour. According to the news of Indian Express, senior players of the Indian team Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jaspreet Bumrah had demanded a break from the series. Coach Gambhir wants all the senior players to be available for this tour. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya may be out of the ODI series due to personal reasons.
Who will be the ODI captain?
The question is that if the selectors give rest to Indian team captain Rohit Sharma in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, then who will be the captain. Hardik Pandya is sure to be made the captain of T20 because Rohit has announced his retirement from this format after the T20 World Cup. Being the vice-captain, Hardik will be made the captain of the team. It remains to be seen whether KL Rahul will be given the command of the team in ODIs or the selectors will trust Suryakumar Yadav.
