The bitterness in the relations between India and Pakistan is not hidden from anyone. During the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there have been only two high-profile occasions when the country’s top leadership visited neighboring country Pakistan. The first occasion was the visit of PM Modi himself when he suddenly reached out to the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his first term. After this, the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Pakistan. After Sushma’s visit to Pakistan in December 2009, there was not a single occasion when an Indian Union Minister or top leadership visited Pakistan. Now Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is going to visit Pakistan on 15-16 October. This opportunity is coming after almost nine years i.e. 106 months.
