India-Pakistan delegation to inspect Indus Water Treaty

Experts will visit Jammu and Kashmir along with India-Pakistan delegations from June 17 to 28 to inspect the Indus and its five tributaries under the Indus Water Treaty (IWT). The government has deputed 50 officers for this visit and has asked the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officers to report to the office of the Managing Director of the Power Development Corporation.

Under the Indus Water Treaty signed on 19 September 1960, every year India-Pakistan experts study the conditions set on Indus and its tributaries under IWT. The treaty was signed by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan President Ayub Khan. Under this, the three western rivers Indus, Chenab and Jhelum were allocated to Pakistan for water use. The three eastern rivers Ravi, Beas and Sutlej were allocated to India for water use. In the order issued by Commissioner Secretary of General Administration Department Sanjeev Verma, 25 liaison officers each have been nominated for Jammu and Kashmir. These include Under Secretaries of various departments.

For Jammu, Sunil Sharma, Samarinder Singh, Raman Sharma, Parul Khajuria, Neha Bakshi, Pooja Larsgotra, Surabhi Raina, Waqar Talib, Pulkit Dutta, Mohammad Naseem, Anjali Gandotra, Anu Sharma, Manoj Kumar, Tamanna Seth, Sahil Mahajan, Narmita Bhan, Sheetal Choudhary, Tanvi Gupta, Piunika Manwaha, Aksar Kotwal, Sonika Sudan, Brahman Raj, Rajendra Singh, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta and Dharam Pal have been appointed.

The officers nominated for Kashmir include Naveed Hussain Badro, Mohammad Azhar Lone, Dr Farooq Naseer Pal, Parvez Ahmad Bhat, Tahir Mohiuddin Wani, Wahid Ahmad, Abdul Raqib Bhat, Fatima, Rauf Ahmad Lone, Sameer Ahmad Dar, Aflaq Ahmad, Imtiaz Ahmad Lone, Rubaiya Afroz Inqlabi, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Irshad Asadullah Jan, Farooq Ahmad Wani, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Arifa Ashraf, Mohammad Shafi Lone, Shabbir Ahmad Baba, Mohammad Amin Shah, Manzoor Ahmad Jan, Arshad Hussain Bhat and Nasir Bilal Shah.
