India Kajal Bhat slams Pakistan United Nations UNSC on Kashmir Minorities Row

India-Pakistan Relations: India has once again slammed Pakistan in the United Nations (UN). Ever since Pakistan has been elected as a temporary member of the UN Security Council, its rhetoric against India has increased. In such a situation, it is using all the forums of the UN to spew venom against India. Pakistan had raised the issue of the rights of minorities in India in the UN meeting. Apart from this, it accused India of atrocities against Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir. However, India gave a befitting reply to Pakistan on the same forum and silenced the neighbouring country.

India’s legal advisor at the UN, Kajal Bhat, criticised Pakistan at the UN and said, “Pakistan is a country that constantly violates the rights of minorities. Pakistan is the centre of terrorism.” During her address, she also reminded of the genocide committed by Pakistan in East Pakistan (Bangladesh) and said that Pakistan has not yet apologised for it.

Persecution of minorities in Pakistan

Pakistan is already infamous for persecution of minorities and every day there are reports that minorities are still oppressed there. Since independence, the population of minorities in Pakistan has been continuously decreasing. At present, the situation in Pakistan has become such that minorities are now left in name only. Despite these conditions, the majority fundamentalist community of Pakistan is continuously persecuting Hindus, Sikhs and Christians. In Pakistan, pressure is put on non-Muslims to convert to Islam, while even the police of Pakistan is not able to take any special action in this matter.
