The United States said on Wednesday that India is sensitive to our concerns in the case of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said that there has been a very positive conversation between the two countries.
‘We have had direct talks with the Indian government’
Addressing the online media on Wednesday, US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said that in view of the security concerns shared by the US, the Indian investigative committee has constantly sought updates on the investigation. Campbell further said that we have had a conversation with the Indian government in this matter, we have made it clear to the Indian government that we constantly want updates from the Indian investigative committee in this matter.

Last year, the US claimed that it had foiled a plot to assassinate an American citizen. Allegedly, Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta was accused in this murder plot. Nikhil Gupta was arrested in the Czech Republic. The US claimed that the American citizen whose murder was plotted was Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. Pannu is an American Canadian citizen and a Khalistani leader. Pannu is declared a terrorist in India and is wanted in several cases.
A Washington Post report claimed that an officer of India’s intelligence agency RAW was involved in the alleged conspiracy to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. The name of the RAW officer was also revealed in the media report. However, India’s Foreign Ministry called this report baseless and unfounded. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said that India has formed a high-level committee to investigate and it is investigating.
