India has achieved a major diplomatic success. In fact, Iran has released five Indian sailors who were among the crew members of the ship belonging to Israel which it had seized recently. The five Indian sailors will also leave from Iran this evening. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs gave detailed information about the released Indian sailors and also thanked the Government of Iran for the release of the sailors.

Iran seized Israeli ship on April 13

Iran had seized a cargo ship belonging to Israel on April 13. The crew of that ship included 17 Indian citizens. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps navy seized the Israeli-owned ship MSAC Aries near the Strait of Hormuz. This ship was going from the Strait of Hormuz towards Dubai. Iran alleged that the ship was passing through their territory without permission. The Indian crew on board the ship also included a sailor, Ann Tessa Joseph, a woman from Kerala, who had already been released by the Iranian government and reached India on April 18. When Iran seized the ship, there were 25 crew members on board, including 17 Indians and two Pakistanis. The ship belonged to an Israeli businessman, but was being operated by Portugal. There are still 11 Indian sailors in Iran.

Tension had increased between Iran and Israel recently

Iran is supporting Hamas in the Israel-Hamas war. This is the reason why Houthi rebels with the support of Iran are continuously attacking international shipping routes in the Red Sea. Recently, Israel was accused of targeting Iran’s embassy in Syria, in which two top commanders of the Iranian army were killed. Iran blamed Israel for this attack and threatened to take revenge. In retaliation, Iran launched a major attack on Israel with the help of missiles and drones, but Israel did not suffer any major loss in this attack. When tensions between the two countries were at their peak, Iran seized an Israeli ship from the Strait of Hormuz.
