India-Bangladesh border will be impenetrable! MP Forest Department will give 700 American guns to BSF

MP News Today: The Madhya Pradesh Forest Department will give 700 ‘pump action’ guns from its arsenal to the Border Security Force (BSF) for deployment along the international border with restive Bangladesh, a senior official said on Friday (September 13).

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Conservation) of Madhya Pradesh P K Singh said that these guns fire rubber bullets. He said that these guns are used to push back armed poachers and tree-cutting gangs in the state.

Home Ministry’s letter to enhance security
MP’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Conservation) P K Singh told the media,"We will give 700 ‘pump action’ guns to the Border Security Force from our arsenal." He confirmed that the Madhya Pradesh government had asked the forest department for these guns after receiving a letter from the Union Home Ministry regarding enhancing security along the international border with Bangladesh.

These guns have been imported from America
According to another official, these guns were imported from US-based Maverick Arms Inc in 2008. He said that the gun has a single barrel and it is of 12 GA (gauge) caliber.

BSF increased vigilance after unrest in Bangladesh
Let us tell you, India shares 4 thousand 96 kilometers long international border with Bangladesh, which includes 2,217 kilometers of border with West Bengal. Apart from this, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya also share border with Bangladesh.

Amid the current political turmoil in Bangladesh, the central government has increased the security of the border. Recently, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on 5 August in the wake of massive protests and left the country and came to India, after which political upheaval continues in Bangladesh. 

In such a situation, after the political turmoil and unrest in Bangladesh, the BSF has increased its vigilance on the international border to thwart attempts of illegal entry into India by the citizens of that country.
