Ind W vs SA W: Asha wreaks havoc in debut match, Mandhana scores a brilliant century, India takes lead by crushing South Africa

New Delhi. The Indian women’s team has given fans another reason to celebrate amidst the ICC T20 World Cup. Star opener Smriti Mandhana’s century in difficult times and Asha’s deadly bowling on debut helped India crush South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series. Batting first, Team India scored 265 runs for 8 wickets, in response to which the Proteas team could only score 122 runs. With a big win of 143 runs, India took a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Indian team has started the three-match ODI series against South Africa with a bang. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bat first but the South African bowlers proved it wrong. Half the team was sent back within 100 runs. India lost the wickets of Shefali Verma, Hemalata, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemima Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh at 99 runs.

Smriti Mandhana’s powerful century
While the Indian team’s batsmen were losing their wickets on one end, on the other, star opener Smriti Mandhana was seen giving tough time to the bowlers. She completed her fifty by hitting 6 fours in 61 balls. After this, she scored a century by playing 116 balls with the help of 10 fours and 1 six. This was the sixth century of this star in ODIs. Smriti was out after playing an innings of 117 runs on 127 balls, but by then India had reached a big score.
