IND vs ZIM T20: Shubman Gill ready to replace Rohit, captaining against Zimbabwe, said- I am also…

New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s young batsman Shubman Gill wants to open for Team India in T20 cricket. Gill is currently on a tour of Zimbabwe. The Indian team has gone to Zimbabwe to play a 5-match T20 series under Gill’s captaincy. The first T20 match of the series will be played in Harare on Saturday (July 6). For the first time, the Indian team will play without Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. These three players recently said goodbye to T20 International cricket. Gill said that repeating the achievements of Rohit and Virat is not an easy task for any player.

Shubman Gill was part of India’s reserve team in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. On the eve of the first T20 match of the series against Zimbabwe (IND vs ZIM), he said, ‘I think Rohit bhai was the opening batsman. Virat bhai also opened the innings in this World Cup. I have also opened the innings in T20. Therefore, I think I would like to play the role of an opening batsman in T20.’

‘I don’t want to put any pressure on myself’
Gill said that he does not want to let the pressure of matching two great players like Kohli and Rohit dominate him. When asked about dealing with the pressure of expectations after Rohit and Kohli’s retirement from this format, Gill said, ‘Pressure and expectations…I think these are always there. If I try to achieve or reach what Virat Bhai and Rohit Bhai have achieved, it will be very difficult for me. Every player has his own goal, where he wants to reach. This is the pressure. If you want to reach where others have reached, then there will be more pressure on you.’
