In this match played at Harare Sports Club, India won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Zimbabwe scored 152 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs on the basis of a 63-run partnership between Marumani and Madhvere. In reply, Team India scored 156 runs in 15.2 overs on the basis of an unbeaten partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill and won the match by 10 wickets.

Gill-Jaiswal’s match winning partnership

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill performed explosively for the Indian team chasing the target of 153 runs. Both scored half-centuries against Zimbabwe. Jaiswal completed his fifty in 29 balls while Gill took 35 balls to complete his half-century. Both of them gave a lesson to the Zimbabwean bowlers and finished the match with 28 balls remaining. In this match, Jaiswal managed to score 93 runs in 53 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes. At the same time, Gill scored 58 runs in 39 balls. Both remained unbeaten in this match.

Madhvere and Marumani, who came to bat first for Zimbabwe, gave the team a good start. There was a huge partnership of 63 runs for the first wicket between the two, which was broken by Abhishek in the ninth over. He got Marumani caught by Rinku Singh. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 32 runs. At the same time, Madhvere was out after scoring 25 runs. The team got the third blow in the form of Brian Bennett who could score only nine runs. After this, Sikandar Raza tried to take charge. However, the Zimbabwean batsman could not stay on the wicket for long. Campbell was out after scoring three runs. After this, the team got the fifth blow in the form of captain Raza who was out after scoring 46 runs in 28 balls. Interestingly, Tushar Deshpande, who was making his debut in this match, dismissed him. He got his first success in T20 international cricket in the form of Raza.
