Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in the final of the T20 World Cup and decided to bat first. Rohit’s decision proved wrong when India lost two wickets within 23 runs. Keshav Maharaj gave India a double blow by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant in his very first over. Suryakumar Yadav also could not stay at the crease for long. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 3 runs off 4 balls. Suryakumar was caught by Klaasen off Rabada’s ball.

The Indian team was under pressure after losing 3 wickets for 34 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma changed the batting lineup on this occasion and sent Akshar Patel to number five. Rohit’s move worked. Akshar played an innings of 47 runs in 31 balls. He hit 4 sixes and a four in this innings.

This innings of Akshar Patel gave Virat Kohli a chance to play his natural game. Kohli held one end and scored 76 runs in 59 balls to take India to a big score. He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in this innings.

Virat Kohli’s innings showed many colours. He showed his intention to play fast by hitting 3 fours to Marco Jansen in the first over. But when India lost 3 wickets within 34 runs, Kohli changed his game. He held one end and first took India past 100 runs. Once it was decided that India would not get out early, Kohli again changed gears and scored runs fast.
