New Delhi. There is doubt over Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma playing his first test match against Australia. Due to personal reasons he may stay out of the Perth Test match. Before leaving for Australia tour, coach Gautam Gambhir has expressed hope that Rohit Sharma can play the first test. However, he also said that nothing can be said regarding this right now.
Indian men’s cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has said that he is hopeful that Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be available for the first Test against Australia. This match will be played at Optus Stadium in Perth from 22nd November. Speaking to reporters at the press conference before leaving for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Mumbai on Monday (November 11), Gambhir said that there is no confirmation of Rohit’s availability at the moment, but he is hopeful that he will be available.
Gambhir said, “There is no confirmation from Rohit at the moment; Hopefully he will be available. We will know before the start of the first Test.”
According to Gambhir, if Rohit is unable to play in the first match, then KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran can open the innings for the visiting team.
