The villagers of Bharatpur say that if this female lays 6 eggs, then there is hope of good harvest and rain. The sandpiper, which nests on open grasslands, small stones, deserted mansions and deserted roofs, lays about 4 to 6 eggs from April to the first week of June, which help in predicting the monsoon.
