Imran Khan is a major hurdle in political reconciliation in Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan is the main obstacle to political reconciliation in the country. This information was given in media reports.

It was told that Nawaz also stressed that his ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is committed to political reconciliation in the country with a spirit of not taking revenge on any party. Nawaz Sharif made this remark after a meeting with MPs. The issue of talks with Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party was discussed in the meeting.

Sharif, president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, said that the country’s former Prime Minister Khan himself is not showing seriousness in resolving the issues and negotiating with us, due to which no conclusion is being reached.

He questioned the feasibility of talks as the PTI is not showing much interest in resolving it. Nawaz Sharif told the party MPs, ‘How can they hold talks when no party is serious?’ He cited several past incidents when Khan had rejected proposals to improve relations with the PML-N.

Former Prime Minister Sharif said, ‘I myself am from Bani Gala (Imran Khan ‘s house. Our honesty is considered our weakness.’ Highlighting the importance of dialogue despite political differences, Nawaz cited the example of his meeting with late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The PML-N president said he did not believe in political vendettas since he and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had signed the ‘Charter of Democracy’. Sharif said he had no political vendetta or animosity against anyone, not even those who had tried to keep him out of power in the past.
