The same can be said about laptops. As its battery gets older, the need to use the power plug more frequently will also increase. Most of the electronics devices we use come with lithium ion and lithium poly batteries. These are equipped with quick charge feature but it is not necessary that you get long battery life. Keeping the battery life in mind, it is better to replace the battery instead of upgrading the laptop.
Whether you use a smartphone, tablet or laptop, these tips will help you increase the battery life of your device.
1) Keep an eye on the temperature
Using the battery in high temperatures can be even more problematic than cycling it. Battery University says that high temperatures and aging gradually reduce the performance of the battery. Using the device in low temperatures (above 30 degrees Celsius is considered high) will improve its life cycle. Testing has found that using the battery for three months at 60 degrees temperature reduces the performance to 60 percent and at 40 degrees temperature it reaches 65 percent. Try to protect your device from heat, such as do not make the mistake of leaving your mobile on the dashboard of the car in the scorching heat.
It is reasonable to be worried about the problem of overheating of the smartphone, because with the passage of time the battery life becomes very weak. In the laptop, make sure that you are using a cooling pad, so that the hot air from the CPU vent can easily come out. Due to dust, the vent of the laptop often starts getting clogged, due to which the fans built in it have to work more, gradually this also works to increase your expenses. Therefore, keep it clean, especially remove the dust.

2) Avoid free apps, start buying apps
Apps that come with ads can reduce your device’s battery life by an average of 2.5 to 2.1 hours. Some claim that American Researchers According to the study, the processor of the phone is like its brain. Advertisements also use some parts of this brain, which is why it slows down.
It is not that all free apps are affecting your battery, but if you see any advertisement on it, then understand that it will definitely affect the bandwidth and processor. You will get many benefits by paying for the apps. That too when today many apps are available for just Rs 10.
To edit text on a laptop, it is better to use the system application. Doing this will consume less battery than using a browser. If you are not using the Internet, turn off the Wi-Fi connection. On a Windows PC, you just need to press “Fn + F2” on the keyboard. However, this command also depends on the device manufacturer. In such a case, you can also use the Wi-Fi icon on the device.
3) Turn off location tracking
A recent report claimed that the Facebook app drains the iPhone’s battery quickly because it repeatedly uses the GPS module to know the user’s location. In such a situation, turning off location tracking of apps that do not need your location will definitely help.
On most Android devices, you can turn off location tracking completely by going to Settings then Location. However, the option to set this at the app level is currently only available in Android Marshmallow.
In iOS 9, go to Settings, then choose Privacy and then Location Services. After this, you can disable it on a per-app basis. Keep location access on only for the apps that need it.
4) It is better to charge it little by little rather than fully charging it
A great tip given by Battery University can be understood by taking the example of a marathon. Instead of taking the battery directly from 100 percent and ending it at zero, it is better to let it discharge to 50 percent. Maintain a range between 30 to 80 percent. By doing this, the discharge cycle of your battery will increase three times.
Lenovo uses this principle in its battery maintenance settings, which you can customize to suit your needs. To ensure that your battery lasts for many years, Lenovo recommends setting the charging pattern to start at 40% and stop at 50%.
5) Decrease the brightness of the display
This tip applies to both laptops and mobile devices. On most devices, you can easily use the brightness settings or lower your screen brightness using third-party apps like Lux. This not only reduces the brightness of the display, but also changes the color cast of the screen. However, power can be saved on OLED screens through a software layer, while LCDs require lowering the backlight brightness.
You can also save some battery by limiting how long your display stays on when the device is inactive. On Android, you can set this by going to Settings then Display. In iOS, you can change the setting according to your convenience by going to Settings then General then Auto-Lock.
In Windows laptops, right-click on the battery icon, then on Power Options. After this, change the setting to Power Saver. Windows will then automatically reduce the brightness. Apart from this, it will start giving priority to standby and other settings according to the battery performance.
6) Update apps over Wi-Fi or while charging the battery
Generally any action that puts pressure on the processor or bandwidth will consume more CPU power. It is best to keep this action constant and use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data internet. In such a case, the best decision is to schedule your app updates only on Wi-Fi. If your device has the option, you can schedule it only while charging.
On Android, you can access this setting in the Play Store app. Launch the app. Open the menu by swiping from the left side of the screen. Then go to Settings, then Auto-update apps. Then choose Wi-Fi only mode. On iPhone or iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular, go to Settings, then iTunes & App Store. Then turn off Use Cellular Data.
7) Turn on low power mode
Not all Android phones have battery saver mode. If you are using Android 5.0 or later, then your device is more likely to have this mode. It gets activated automatically when your phone’s battery reaches 15 percent. It stops background app refresh, location tracking and sync activity to save battery life. Android Marshmallow comes with Doze feature. This feature sends your phone into deep slow mode if you do not use your phone for a long time. This feature doubles the standby time. If you are using an older version of Android phone then you will not get this feature.
iPhones running iOS 9 also have a Low Power Mode that turns off background refresh, visual effects, and automatic downloads. You can access this feature by going to the Battery option in Settings.
If you are using an older Android phone, the manufacturer may have provided its own low power mode. For example, on Sony phones it is known as Stamina mode and on HTC it is called Extreme Power Mode. However, you can also use several third-party apps. However, our experience shows that the built-in apps are more effective.
8) Use flight mode
If your phone is not near a cellular tower, it will also affect the standby time. If you are in a place where there is no network, it would be better to activate airplane mode (flight mode) in the phone. Your phone will repeatedly search for network in such places, which will affect the battery life.
By following these tips, you will find that your phone is giving better battery life than before. If you have any suggestions to improve battery life, then let us know through the comment box.
