New Delhi. Team India will face England in the semi-final match today. The team that wins today will clash with South Africa in the final. For the last 10 years, India has repeatedly failed to win the title after reaching the knockout stage during ICC tournaments. In such a situation, India’s first World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has given an advice to Team India on Thursday. He said that collective performance, not individual talent, will play an important role in deciding whether Rohit Sharma and company will be able to win the T20 World Cup in the West Indies or not.

Kapil said in an exclusive interview to news agency PTI, “Why should we only talk about Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumrah, Hardik Pandya or Kuldeep Yadav? Everyone has to play a role. Their job is to win the tournament.” He said, “The performance of a single player may matter to win a match but to win a tournament, everyone has to work in unity. If we depend only on Bumrah or Arshdeep, it will be difficult for us to win.”

Game plan of 1983…
Kapil Dev said, “We should talk about the team. It gives you a better perspective than any one player. There may be a main player but everyone has to contribute to win the World Cup.” Kapil told that he was not the only player to perform in the 1983 World Cup winning team. “Roger Binny, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Yashpal Sharma all gave match-winning performances. If you start depending on one player then it means that you will not be able to win the tournament more often.”

Best of luck to Team India..
Before the semi-final match against England, Kapil Sharma wished India all the best and hoped that the team would win the trophy. This former captain of India said, “My best wishes to the team. I hope that the Indian players will continue to play the way they are playing. It should not happen that they have a bad day and they are out of the tournament (as happened last time in the 50-over World Cup).” He said, “They are playing well and enjoying their game. Salute to them. I wish them all the best and pray for their happiness.”

We didn’t think like this 20 years ago…
The 65-year-old former great all-rounder was on Wednesday elected as the new president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). He said that he is proud that the Indian team is considered a title contender in every global tournament. He said, “We should be happy that we are able to think that we can win. 20 years ago, you were not thinking. It is important that India is going as a strong contender in every tournament. This is a big thing.” He stressed, “We never thought about it. This is a big encouragement for a young player to take up this game. I am very happy to see that Indian cricket has reached here in a great way.”

Bumrah is a better bowler than me…
Kapil praised Bumrah, who has been a star performer for India by taking 11 wickets so far in the tournament. He said, “Bumrah is a 1000 times better bowler than me. These young boys are much better than us. We had more experience. They are better. They are very good. Excellent. They are more fit. They are very hardworking. They are fantastic.”
