Chinese company Xiaomi’s latest smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is about to enter the Indian market. If seen, it is an upgrade of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, whose popularity is unquestionable. Xiaomi is now facing strong challenges in the market from Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Motorola One Power and Honor 8X. The responsibility of answering these challenges will now be on the shoulders of Redmi Note 6 Pro. The new phone seems to be inspired by the design of Redmi Note 5 Pro and many specifications are also the same. But it has a 6.26-inch 19:9 full-HD + display, that too with a notch.

The smartphone will be unveiled on November 22 in New Delhi. Its price will also be revealed on the same day. Redmi Note 6 Pro also the price of Redmi Note 5 Pro It is expected to be around Rs. 13,999. Let us tell you that the starting price of Redmi Note 5 Pro is Rs 13,999 and the expensive variant is Rs 15,999. However, considering the increase in the prices of Redmi phones in recent times, the price of Redmi Note 6 Pro can be expected to be slightly higher. Before the launch, we got some time to spend with Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. How did we like this phone at first glance? Let’s know…

The Redmi Note 6 Pro has the same display as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, except that the size is bigger and there is a notch in the display. Its resolution is 1080×2280 pixels and the maximum brightness is 500 nits. In the short time we spent with the phone, we found that the display has excellent viewing angles. Color and contrast are also good. However, we did get complaints of backlight bleeding at the highest brightness level. Due to the 2.5D curved edges, the meeting between the display glass and the frame is very smooth.

Redmi Note 6 Pro has Snapdragon 636 processor

Apart from some minor changes, Redmi Note 6 Pro looks very similar to Redmi Note 5 Pro. The new model is 0.5 cm wider. The phone is slightly wider, but it feels the same as Redmi Note 5 Pro in the hands. There is no capacitive button in the phone. Instead, users can use on-screen buttons. There is a dual camera setup on the back. The fingerprint sensor is also on the rear. During use, we found that there was a slight lag in unlocking the phone.

Redmi Note 6 Pro has lock/power button and volume buttons on the right side. Whereas, the hybrid dual SIM tray is on the left side. Two nano SIMs or one nano SIM along with a microSD card can be used in this tray. If needed, it is possible to use a microSD card up to 256 GB. There are speaker grills on both sides of the micro-USB port at the bottom, one of these grills has a speaker in it itself. 3.5 mm headphone jack, microphone and IR emitter are placed on the top.

The rear camera setup has improved. You will still get a 12-megapixel primary autofocus sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor. But both of them have F/1.9 aperture. In the limited time we spent with the Redmi Note 6 Pro, we found that daylight shots were crisp. We could not test the low light photography of this phone. By the way, we would suggest you to wait for the review.

An important feature of this phone is the dual selfie camera setup. There is a 20-megapixel primary sensor on the front panel and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait shots. The photos came out well in good lighting. The bokeh effect was very accurate.

Like the old handset, Redmi Note 6 Pro also has a metal back and comes with a matte finish. This means that the phone slips in the hands. Due to the large body, it is not easy to hold it in the hands. If seen, the 182 gram Redmi Note 6 Pro is only 2 grams heavier than the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. We expected the company to use a more powerful processor, possibly the Snapdragon 660. Xiaomi could have used the MediaTek Helio P60 processor instead, as MediaTek chipsets are now sold in India as well. However, our verdict on the performance of the phone based on this processor will come in the review itself. There will be two variants of this phone – 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage. Performance was smooth. During our time with the 6GB RAM variant, we never felt any lag.

Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. At the moment, there is no information about the Android 9.0 Pie update. The phone is based on MIUI, which means you will get many useful features.

The AI Face Unlock feature in Redmi Note 6 Pro worked well. The phone registered the face quickly. The handset also unlocked quickly. It is not as accurate as 3D Face Unlock. Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 4,000 mAh battery. It supports 10 watt charging. It has a battery saver mode.

What else is special in Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro? We will tell you about it in detail in the review.
