New Delhi. Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia (India vs Australia) is starting from 22nd November. Both teams are ready for this. This time too there is going to be an interesting series. The Indian team has been touring Australia since 1947 and exciting matches have been seen between the two teams on the cricket field. Today we will know about the times India has visited Australia for Test matches from 1947 till now.

1. 1947-48: Australia won the five-match series 4-0. The Indian team toured Australia about four months after independence. That Australian team included Sir Donald Bradman (715 runs at an average of 178.75) and fast bowler Ray Lindwall (18 wickets). Vijay Hazare scored the highest 429 runs for India.

2. 1967-68 : Australia won the five-match series 4-0. With the help of ML Jaisimha’s 101 runs, the Indian team came close to the target of 394 runs in Brisbane but lost by 35 runs. The performance of the team captained by Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was average. Off spinner Erapalli Prasanna took 25 wickets.

3. 1977-78: Australia won the five-match series 3-2. India won the third and fourth Tests in Melbourne and Sydney. While chasing the target of 493 runs in Adelaide, Mohinder Amarnath, Gundappa Vishwanath, Dilip Vengsarkar and Syed Kirmani scored centuries but the team lost by 47 runs. Spinner Bishan Singh Bedi took 31 wickets.

4. 1980-81 : Three-match series drawn 1-1. With Kapil Dev’s five wickets and Vishwanath’s century, India defeated Australia in the third Test in Melbourne and drew the series. The Australian team was out for 83 runs.

5. 1985-86 : Three-match series drawn 0-0. Sunil Gavaskar (352 runs) scored the most runs in this series. India’s minimum score was 445 runs. After the retirement of Greg Chappell, Rod Marsh, Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson, the Australian team could not present any challenge.

6. 1991-92: Australia won the five-match series 4-0. Young Sachin Tendulkar scored a century in Perth but the Australian team, captained by Allan Border, won the series easily. For the first time the world saw a glimpse of the bowling of great leg spinner Shane Warne.

7. 1999 -2000 : Australia won the three-match series 3-0. The Indian team could not even cross 300 in six innings. Glenn McGrath took 18 wickets.

8. 2003-04 : Four-match series drawn 1-1. India took a 1-0 lead by defeating Australia by four wickets in the second Test in Adelaide. Brilliant performance by Ajit Agarkar and Rahul Dravid. Australia equalized by winning the second test at MCG by nine wickets.

9. 2007-08 : Australia won the four-match series 2-1. After Steve Bucknor’s umpiring errors in the Sydney Test and the ‘Monkeygate’ controversy between Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds, India registered a win in an emotion-packed Perth Test.

10. 2011-12: Australia won the four-match series 4-0. There were many old players in the Indian team under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This was the last series of Dravid and VVS Laxman, who were synonymous with terror for the Australian bowlers.

11. 2014-15: Australia won the four-match series 2-0. Dhoni left the Test captaincy after the third Test was a draw in Melbourne. Virat Kohli became the captain in Sydney and scored 147 runs in the very first innings as captain.

12. 2018 -19: India won the four-match series 2-1. With Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri, the Indian team became the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia. India won the Tests in Adelaide and Melbourne. Cheteshwar Pujara scored 521 runs while Jasprit Bumrah took 21 wickets.

13. 2020 -21 : India won the four-match series 2-1. Troubled by players’ injuries, the Indian team was out on its lowest score of 36 runs in Adelaide. After this, in Melbourne and Brisbane the team got a new leader in the form of Rishabh Pant while Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin also performed brilliantly. After Kohli returned to India for the birth of his first child, Ajinkya Rahane led the victory with brilliant captaincy.
