Honor Takes Lead in Chinese Smartphone Market in Q3 2023 With 18 Percent Share Beats Oppo Apple

In the third quarter of the year, Honor led the Chinese smartphone market, shipping 11.8 million units and achieving 18% market share. While the overall market declined 5 percent year-on-year to 66.7 million units, Honor’s performance was particularly impressive considering its recent spin-off from Huawei.

Canalys’ latest Report According to , Oppo and Apple remained far behind Honor with 16 percent market share, while Vivo and Xiaomi fell to 16 percent and 14 percent respectively. Huawei continued to grow and reach 13 percent market share in the third quarter of 2023.

Honor’s success can be attributed to several factors, including its strong brand identity in China, its competitive pricing and its focus on the latest products. For example, according to the report, Honor’s X50 series, Magin Vs 2 and Play 50 Plus models have been well received by Chinese customers.

Huawei remains an interesting wildcard in the Chinese smartphone market. Despite US sanctions, the company has been successful in increasing its market share and is expected to play an important role in the last quarter of the year.
