Hizb ut-Tahrir: Security agencies in India are on alert regarding the terrorist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir. Officials associated with the government said that the NIA had talked in detail on the ‘growth of Hizb-ut-Tahrir’ in India in a two-day anti-terrorism conference last week. Anti-terrorism experts from Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Guwahati Police, Narcotics Control Bureau and BSF were also present in this meeting.

Lebanon-based fundamentalist group Hizb-ut-Tahrir is strengthening its hold in Western countries. Last year, people associated with this group held pro-Palestine street protests in Britain. After this Britain had banned this group.

Sleeper cells are present in four states

This group is also trying to expand its footprint rapidly in India. India has recently placed this group under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Sleeper cells of this group have been found in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

NIA is investigating the case

According to the Times of India report, the report presented during the two-day conference talked about the members of Hutt’s module who were captured earlier this year. The Union Home Ministry had handed over this case to the NIA. In this case, NIA has filed a charge sheet against 17 members of Hizb-ut-Tahrir.

NIA investigation revealed that its members are spread across the country. These people were secretly recruiting their cadre in Madhya Pradesh and were trying to strengthen it.
