Hindu Population: The total population of the world is constantly increasing, it includes people of all religions. The population of almost all religions including Hindus, Muslims and Christians is increasing rapidly. The United Nations has estimated that the world’s population will reach its peak in this century. But there are some countries in the world where the population of Hindus is going to decrease in the coming times.

According to a report by the Pew Research Center, due to reasons such as low fertility rate, conversion and migration, the Hindu population is expected to decline in many countries by the year 2050. Since the India-Pakistan partition, the population of Hindus in Pakistan has been continuously decreasing. The population of Hindus in Bangladesh has also been continuously decreasing. The population of Hindus in these countries is also going to decrease in the coming decades. Along with this, the population of Hindus is also expected to decrease in Nepal, the world’s largest Hindu majority country in terms of percentage of the total population.

The Hindu population of these countries is expected to decrease-

1. Pakistan: 1.6 percent in 2010 to 1.3 percent in 2050
2. Bangladesh: 8.5 percent in 2010 to 7.2 percent in 2050
3. Afghanistan: 0.4 percent in 2010 to 0.3 percent in 2050
4. Malaysia: 6.3 percent in 2010 to 5.5 percent in 2050
5. Sri Lanka: 12.6 percent in 2010 to 11.5 percent in 2050
6. Nepal: 80.6 percent in 2010 to 76.4 percent in 2050

Hindus are third largest in the world
The point to be noted here is that the population of Hindus in these countries is estimated to be decreasing in terms of percentage of the total population. At present, Christianity is the largest religion in the world in terms of population. People who believe in Islam are at the second place. At the same time, the number of Hindus is at the third place in the world.

The population of Muslims is going to increase
The report also estimates that the global Hindu population is expected to grow from 1.2 billion in 2010 to 1.4 billion in 2050. But the share of Hindus in the global population is expected to decline from 17.5 percent to 15.3 percent. This means that the global population of Hindus is going to decline in terms of the total world population in the coming decades. Along with this, Pew Research has estimated that by the year 2050, the population of Muslims may equal that of Christians.
