In this sequence, the administration has taken strict action and arrested three key officials of the religious organization, Jitendra Singh, Sonu Negi and Suraj Dabral. They have been detained due to violation of Section 163 and already registered cases.
Subhash Badoni, President of the District Unit of the Provincial Industry Trade Board, while appreciating the solidarity of the traders, urged them to exempt the establishments from the weekly closure till Diwali. He says that the traders have decided to keep their establishments open so that there is no inconvenience of any kind.
Slogans raised against the mosque
The controversy regarding this mosque started when a religious organization started protesting calling it illegal. The organization said that the mosque was built illegally on about 2 drains of land. After this, slogans were raised against the mosque in the procession against illegal meat shops on 6 September.
Located in Barahat area of Uttarkashi, this mosque was built in the year 1969. At that time a person had sold about 4 drains and 15 handfuls of land to seven people from another community. But in the year 2005, the registration of the mosque land was rejected, due to which the situation became more complicated.
The controversy regarding this mosque started again in the month of September, when the organization called it illegal and sought information from the district administration under Right to Information (RTI). Based on the information received through RTI, the organization declared it illegal, while the district administration considered the information incomplete and promised to clarify the situation.
The mosque is built on private land
Meanwhile, the other community also handed over all the necessary documents related to the mosque to the district administration, due to which the dispute was calmed down for some time. The controversy increased again as soon as the public anger rally was organized in the month of October. Due to this, the administration had to issue a press release on October 21 to clarify that the mosque is not located on government land but on private land.
According to the press release of the administration, this is also recorded in the gazette of Muslim Waqf Department of Uttar Pradesh Government. Despite this, the protesting organization has refused to accept it. At present the situation here remains tense, although the administration and police are trying to resolve the matter peacefully.
