Himachal Govt Imposes Toilet Seat Tax: In Himachal Pradesh, now people will have to pay tax on toilet seats also. The Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of the state has taken a decision in this regard. People living in the hill state will now be taxed on the basis of the number of toilet seats in their homes.

The Congress government led by Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, which is facing financial crisis in the state, has recently issued a notification in this regard. This tax will be imposed on the people of urban areas. Due to this tax, the financial burden on common people will increase.

How much tax will have to be paid on toilet seat?

In the official notification issued by the state government regarding sewerage and water bills, it has been said that people living in urban areas will have to pay a fee of Rs 25 for toilet seats installed in their homes. This additional fee along with the sewerage bill will be transferred to the account of Jal Shakti Department.

Sewerage bill will be 30 percent of water bill

Along with this, it has been said in the government notification that the sewerage bill will be 30 percent of the water bill. Those who use water from their own source and only use sewerage connection from the government department will have to pay a tax of Rs 25 per toilet seat every month. The department has issued orders related to this to all divisional officers.

According to media reports, earlier water bills were not issued in Himachal Pradesh. The BJP government had announced that free water would be provided if it comes to power in the state. However, the Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh has now ordered to issue water bill of Rs 100 per connection every month. It has started from October. However, people living in urban areas are expected to bear the brunt of these new taxes.
