The central government has appointed IAS officer Sanjay Murthy as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). K Sanjay Murthy is currently the Secretary in the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education. He will take charge soon. He is a 1989 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre.
As Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, IAS Sanjay Murthy was working on overseeing policies related to higher education and implementation of government schemes. Apart from this he was responsible for motivating educational institutions to promote educational development across the country.
He will replace the current CAG Girish Chandra Murmu. Murmu was appointed CAG in August 2020. Earlier, Murmu was the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
