Hezbollah Statement After Pager Explosion: Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has made his first public comments since the pager and walkie-talkie explosions that rocked Lebanon on September 17 and 18, killing at least 37 people and injuring nearly 3,000.
The Hezbollah chief has blamed Israel for the attack and alleged that the Israeli army was behind it. Hezbollah has vowed to take revenge on Israel. Nasrallah said that “the Israeli enemy has targeted many pagers” and “the enemy has really crossed all limits.”
Nasrallah raised questions about the attack
“The explosions hit hospitals, pharmacies, hospitals, markets, shops, homes, cars where there were many civilians including women and children. The deadly explosions are something different, about 4,000 pagers were targeted and the aim of the explosions was to kill 4,000 people in an instant,” Nasrallah said.
“This is beyond the pale of crime,” Nasrallah said. “What would we call this kind of criminal action? Is it a major operation? Is it genocide?”
‘This is a declaration of war…’
Nasrallah said, “This is a declaration of war. We have suffered a great setback. But this is a state of war. Through this experience and its lessons we will become stronger and more powerful.” Challenging Israel, Nasrallah said, “The Lebanese Front will not stop until the war on Gaza is over.”
Nasrallah suggests that the number of those killed and wounded could have been higher because some of the pagers were not in the possession of Hezbollah people, meaning they were not given to anyone. Hezbollah will investigate the companies involved in the manufacture and sale of the pagers, as well as how they were distributed.
