Nokia 2.2 is the latest budget smartphone of Nokia brand phone manufacturing company HMD Global. Nokia 2.2 has been launched during an event held in New Delhi on Thursday. Nokia 2.2 is an upgrade to Nokia 2.1 launched last year. Nokia 2.2 is an Android One smartphone and its two variants have been launched in the Indian market – one with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage and the other with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant. We spent some time with Nokia 2.2 during the launch event and let us provide you with information about it.

If you do not like this color then you can also change the back cover of Nokia 2.2. HMD Global has also released Express On Covers for this phone and these will be available in Pink Sand, Forest Green and Ice Blue colors.

Nokia 2.2 is also made of plastic but despite this it feels quite sturdy. This smartphone is very compact and fits easily in the pocket. The aspect ratio of Nokia 2.2 is 19:9 and due to the curved edges the phone fits easily in the hand.


A single rear camera with LED flash is provided on the back of the phone. Android One will be written at the bottom on the back panel of the phone, along with which a loudspeaker is also present. Since there is a speaker on the back panel, if you keep the phone on a hard surface then the sound becomes low, we will tell you about this in detail in the review.

Nokia 2.2 has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left side, the button is not programmable and can be switched on/off. The Nokia 2.2 features a 5.71-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. There is a thin border at the bottom of the phone. The phone has a waterdrop notch which Nokia has named discreet selfie notch. The HD+ resolution is acceptable at this price and the viewing angles of the display are also decent. We will give you detailed information about these in our review.

Nokia 2.2 will run on Android 9 Pie and the phone is guaranteed to get software updates for two years and security patches for three years. Recall that Nokia 2.1 was provided with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage but Nokia 2.2 has been launched in two RAM and two storage variants. 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants of Nokia 2.2 have been launched. On the other hand, if we talk about its storage, the phone has 16 GB and 32 GB storage.


It is possible to expand the storage up to 400 GB with the help of microSD card. Quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor has been used in Nokia 2.2. A 3,000 mAh battery will work to bring life to the phone, which is equipped with 5 watt charging support. The performance of the smartphone was smooth, there were a few frame drops while swiping on the Google page from the left side of the home screen. The rest of the animations were fluid and the camera app became very slow when taking photos and processing photos.

There is no place for fingerprint sensor in the smartphone, but this phone is equipped with the facility of biometric face unlock. We will test this feature in our review. During the launch event, we found Face Unlock to be fast and reliable. Talking about camera setup, the Nokia phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with F/2.2 aperture. There is a 5 megapixel sensor on the front panel.

There are some AI features provided in the camera app, the most interesting of which is ‘AI Powered Low Light Fusion Technology’. Nokia claims that the smartphone captures multiple photos simultaneously and creates a single photo with more light through advanced algorithms.


According to HMD Global, the price of Nokia 2.2 in India will start from Rs 7,699. This price is for 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage variant. The price of 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant of the phone is Rs 8,699. However, for a limited time, the company will sell the 2 GB RAM variant of Nokia 2.2 for Rs 6,999 and the 3 GB RAM variant for Rs 7,999. This offer will be available till June 30.
