New Delhi. Thanks to the stormy innings of Kusal Perera and Mohammad Shahzad, Johannesburg Bangla Tigers have won the Zimbabwe Afro T10 tournament. The team captained by Sikandar Raza defeated Cape Town Samp Army in the final. Johannesburg Bangla Tigers won the match by 5 runs on the last ball. Cape Town Samp Army’s English batsman David Malan played an inning of 62 runs, but could not win the title for his team.
The final of the Zimbabwe Afro T10 tournament was played between Johannesburg Bangla Tigers and Cape Town Samp Army. Cape Town Samp Army captain Rohan Mustafa won the toss and chose to bowl first but his bowlers did not like it. Johannesburg’s batsmen scored 129 runs for 5 wickets in 10 overs. From his side, opener Kusal Perera scored 33 runs in 11 balls at a strike rate of just 300. He made a stormy partnership of 59 runs in 22 balls with Mohammad Shahzad. Shahzad scored 44 runs off 25 balls and Hazratullah Zazai scored 19 runs off 11 balls.
Cape Town team made a good start while chasing the target. Opener David Malan took the lead by scoring 62 runs in 28 overs. From the other end, Brian Bennett scored 36 runs in 21 balls and Jack Taylor scored 23 runs in 9 balls. However, despite good innings by Malan, Bennett and Taylor, the Cape Town team remained away from the target. Cape Town Samp Army could score only 124 runs for 2 wickets in 10 overs.
New Zealand’s Adam Milne played an important role in the victory of Johannesburg Bangla Tigers. He spent only 18 runs in his spell of two overs and also took two wickets. Brian Bennett and Rohan Mustafa were sent back to the pavilion after getting Adam.
