Gulshan Jha, who is just 18 years old, first came into the limelight during the Asia Cup 2023 when the first ODI match was played between India and Nepal.

In this match, Gulshan Jha played a tremendous innings and made the Indian bowlers dance to his tune. He hit three fours off Mohammad Siraj’s ball and was successful in leaving a mark of his strong batting in a short innings of 23 runs. The special thing is that Gulshan Jha has learned the ABCs of cricket from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.

He learned the intricacies of cricket at the Arunodaya Cricket Academy located near Ranchi Assembly. Born in 2006, Gulshan was in the ninth class at that time and came to the cricket academy with his father. Director and head coach of the academy Arun Vidyarthi told Local 18 that Gulshan came with his father and his only goal was to become a good cricketer, he was a very focused person.

He used to put in his extra effort
Coach Arun says that every day there was a 6-hour practice in the morning. Gulshan used to practice with full dedication, he used to come on time and leave on time. He had a single focused mind and was very disciplined. There was one thing special about him. He used to practice extra for three to four hours after normal practice. Apart from this, he used to discuss his game with people.

There was no dearth of hard work and effort in him. This was ingrained in him since the eighth grade and childhood.

He was very fond of food
Coach Arun says that he is very fond of food. He liked to eat different types of veg items and non-veg. Apart from this, Gulshan was very mischievous. He used to live in the academy’s hostel and used to hide the food of other children in the hostel. There was no dearth of mischief, but when it came to practice, he became completely focused.

Gulshan’s international career
Gulshan has played 27 ODIs and 31 T20 matches for Nepal so far. Right-arm fast bowler Gulshan has taken 21 and 19 wickets respectively. He has 514 runs in ODI cricket with the help of three half-centuries and 382 runs in T20. In T20 cricket, he has scored these runs at a strike rate of 136.
