Maharaj File Gujarat: The controversy over Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan’s first film ‘Maharaj’ is not coming to an end. The matter was heard in the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday as well. During the hearing, the court said, “Maharaj, it will be decided only after watching the film whether to put a complete ban on the film or allow it to be released.”

A new law is needed to control OTT

Lawyer Shailesh Patwari said that the court will watch the entire film and will give its decision on the release after 2.30 pm on Thursday. He also said that there is a need to make strict rules and regulations to bring OTT under the authority of the Government of India. Otherwise, anyone can come on OTT and show anything, which is risky.

The story is based on this case

The story of ‘Maharaj’ is based on the defamation case involving Karsandas Mulji during the British rule in 1862. Karsandas Mulji was a social reformer and journalist. This case has a significant impact in the history of Indian law. In this defamation case, Jadunathji Maharaj had accused Karsandas of maligning his and his devotees’ image.

In this case, the British judges of the then Bombay Supreme Court had given the verdict in favour of Karsandas after a hearing of about one and a half months. In the film, Junaid is playing the role of journalist Karsandas Mulji, while Jaideep Ahlawat is playing the villain.
