The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB), an autonomous body under the Centre, has recommended the name of Challa Srinivasulu Setty, one of the managing directors of State Bank of India (SBI), as the next chairman of the bank. The FSIB on Saturday recommended the name of Challa Srinivasulu Setty for the post of chairman of State Bank of India (SBI) after meeting with three candidates for the post.
“Taking into consideration his performance at the interface, his overall experience and the existing parameters, the Bureau has recommended the name of Challa Srinivasulu Setty for the post of Chairman, SBI,” FSIB, which works for the directors of public sector banks and financial institutions, said in a statement.
The FSIB interviewed three candidates for the post of SBI chairman on June 29. Current chairman Dinesh Khara will retire on August 28 when he turns 63. Among the contenders, Setty is the most senior with nearly 36 years of service in SBI. The other two MDs interviewed for the SBI chairman post are Ashwani Kumar Tewari and Vinay M Tonse.
