God had planned it… What did Suryakumar say about that amazing catch in the T20 World Cup Final?

New Delhi. Suryakumar Yadav on Monday described the match-deciding catch in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa as God’s plan. Suryakumar displayed a great awareness and concentration and almost ensured the team’s victory by taking a wonderful relay catch of David Miller at the long off boundary.

However, Suryakumar did not give much importance to his role in this title victory in a phone conversation with PTI. The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final played in Barbados on Saturday.

When Suryakumar Yadav was asked if that catch was one of the most important moments of the match, he said, “I am grateful to do something special for the country at that moment. It was God’s plan.” Suryakumar’s catch reminded many people of Kapil Dev’s catch off Madan Lal’s ball in the 1983 ODI World Cup, on which the great Vivian Richards was out.

South Africa needed 16 off the final over and the dangerous David Miller went for a big shot over long off on a Hardik Pandya full toss but Surya Kumar Yadav caught the ball near the boundary, let it go beyond the boundary rope and then came back to take a brilliant catch.

Talking about the catch, Dilip said in a PTI video, “When it happens, the decision and awareness at that time is very important. Having the confidence to know that he can throw the ball and come back and catch it, this decision taken at that time was the best in which he excelled.” The Indian team is currently stuck in Bridgetown due to this storm. Due to this storm, air services have completely stopped.
