German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann underlined the importance of diversifying the market with high quality Indian products. He emphasised the cultural openness in Germany towards Indian cuisine and the importance of bringing high quality mangoes from India to Europe. On the arrival of the first consignment of mangoes from North India, Ackermann said, “Europeans deserve good mangoes coming from South Asia, especially India. Many varieties of mangoes are coming to Belgium. I think North Indian mangoes are coming to Europe, especially Germany.” He celebrated the arrival of Indian mangoes in European supermarkets. He said, “I am excited because everyone knows how much I like mangoes.”

German Ambassador Ackermann highlighted the bilateral relations between Europe and India. He said that this initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of India, aims to establish a sustainable framework for regular exports of Indian agricultural products to Germany and other European countries. There is great potential in these agricultural collaborations. The introduction of different varieties of North Indian mangoes to the Belgian markets is an important step towards diversifying European mango imports. He expressed hope that this initiative will lead to wider agricultural cooperation and increased trade opportunities between India and Germany.

Ackermann acknowledged the dominance of mango imports from Brazil and West Africa in European supermarkets and underlined the cultural openness in Germany towards Indian cuisine. He said that openness and appreciation for Indian food is growing in Germany. I believe that now the time has come for mangoes from India to reach European stores. He highlighted the collaborative effort aimed at regulating the export of Indian products to Germany and other European countries and hoped for substantial benefits in agricultural cooperation.
